Which will be remembered by your guests-
the food or the entertainment (whether good or bad )? Of course, the
Entertainment/DJ. Do you want the "cheapest DJ" to be in charge of the Most
Important day of Your life ?
In order for you to make a value judgment in selecting just the right
DJ/Entertainer, there are certain questions you should be asking.
1) Who will the DJ be at my party/ reception ?
There are some very large DJ companies out there who employ a large number
of DJ's.
Frequently, they have no idea as to who will do your party until it's near
"party time".
This is bad because a Professional DJ and a Host need to communicate. The
Host will need the DJ's input while formulating the "Plan" so that it can be
understood by all for it's execution.
I am always available to meet with customers and a consultation is just a
phone call away.
2)What kind of training does the DJ have in Emceeing, Music, Sound
Reinforcement?
Have you ever asked a DJ about a song that you knew was an oldie but the DJ
thought you were from Mars and was talking a different language because he
didn't have the foggiest idea of what you were talking about ?
I
3)What is included in the Price?
Many companies charge extra for set-up & tare down of the DJ's equipment. Do
they perform the duties of an
Emcee/Party Coordinator ? Is the use of a Wireless Microphone included?
We always include :
A Wireless Microphone at No extra charge
Set up & tare down is FREE !!
Our Emcee/Party Coordinator skills are always at the disposal of the
customer at No extra charge !
4) Does the DJ take requests?
Ask about the music selections. Some companies specialize in certain music.
Will they be able to meet yours and your guests needs?
Will they take requests from you and your guests?
It's not very reassuring when a DJ brings all of 25 CD's because that's all
the "company" allows them to have and is therefore unable to take requests.
We always bring more than 10,000 songs to each performance and I definitely
do take requests.
We also Honor the Hosts instructions regarding the playing of inappropriate
music.
5) What is the ability of the DJ to keep the music going, in case of
equipment failure?
6) Is there a written contract ?
Do Not Hire a DJ without a Written Contract.
With America's Music Experts, there is always a written entertainment
agreement.
After asking all these questions and receiving satisfactory answers,
Now, YOU can ask "How Much"
Is it Party Time Yet ?
What are you planning?
An Anniversary? A Birthday Party? A Company Picnic or Party? A Class
Reunion? Or perhaps a Holiday Theme Party?
Whatever it is, we can assist in making your task easier.
Most people spend hours going through the phone book, looking for the
cheapest DJ they can find. Therefore, the most frequent question that they
ask first is" How much do you charge "? Why ? Because most people view the
challenge of locating the best possible entertainment for the least amount
of dollars as a dirty job. And quite frankly, it can be.
Why ? Because most people don't ask the right questions.
When you booked the caterer or florist was your first question "how much do
you charge? Of course not. Why? Because most people have some type of
experience ordering food or flowers and know what it is that they want so
they ask specific questions which will identify whether or not the selected
vendor is capable of fulfilling their needs. And just like there are a
variety of food vendors and florists in the open market, there are a variety
of different types of DJ businesses out there also.
So how does one identify the Right type of DJ business and more importantly
the right DJ?
How Much Is Your Party Worth To You ?
I have spoken to many everyday people who
have become the person responsible for the outcome of a Festive Occasion
(wedding, surprise party anniversary etc.) and there is one trait that
they all have in common. Very few of them, actually take the time to think
about what their actual needs are for a successful Celebration.
(Professional Party Planners excluded of course)
It seems that the general attitude is"any old' DJ will do as long as he can
play something we can dance to " Yet, these are the same people who will
spend a fortune on something as meaningless as engraved Swizzle Sticks which
are thrown away once used.
What people fail to realize according to a national opinion poll is that :
Less than 5% of the wedding/party budget goes for entertainment
Approximately 50-60% of the budget goes for food.
YET
The Entertainment/ DJ is 100%responsible for the success of the reception/
Party!
How Much is Your Party Worth to you?
If the cost of an event is broken down, the total cost divided by the number
of hours will tell you how much Money YOU stand to Lose, should your guests
decide to leave the party early..
An Example:
$5000 total cost 4 hour event equals $1250 per hour
If the party shuts down even a half-hour early due to cheap entertainment
that your guests think is lame, YOU just wasted $625.00!!!
Use your own numbers and I think you will find that Hiring the DJ is one of
the most important decisions for the success of your party that you can ever
make.
The right DJ/Entertainer will make you a very successful party host. The
wrong one will
well, you get the picture
